Plāys with Audirvāna Long prized by audiophiles for playing high-resolution music files on Mac and Windows, as well as integrating streaming services such as Qobuz, TIDAL, and HRA, Audirvāna is further distinguished by its proprietary playback engine and seamless support for external audio equipment. The "plāys with Audirvāna" program reinforces this connection with manufacturers and gives users the assurance of a flawless integration. A few years ago, at a time when Wattson Audio did not yet exist, we had the opportunity to discuss technical issues with Damien Plisson, the creator of Audirvāna. At that time, we were already working on the compatibility of our proprietary streaming solution with the Audirvāna software. ​ When the Audirvāna team contacted us again in 2022 to present their "plāys with Audirvāna" project, it was only natural that we agreed to be among the first device manufacturers to join this program. Starting May 24, 2023, Audirvāna will automatically recognize our entire line of Emerson and Madison streamers the moment one of them is selected as an UPnP audio output. A "plāys with Audirvāna" notification will appear to confirm that the device has been fully tested to work harmoniously with the software. Audirvāna will then apply the settings recommended by Wattson Audio for your device. Newsletter November 2021 ​ Dear Wattson Audio community, ​ Over a year ago, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, we took on the challenge of launching our Wattson Audio brand by introducing our first product range, the Emerson streamers. Your feedback has always been positive from the start and our user community continues to grow every day. Today, after these troubled times, a new global economic crisis has hit the industry in general and the audio engineering field in particular. A global shortage in the supply of components and raw materials is slowing down, when not crippling the production of every electronic equipment from smartphones to automotive as well as our Hi-Fi devices. From alarmist talks about insufficient supply and unmet demand, manufacturing complexity and increased production, to less pessimistic speeches from some top executives predicting a way out of the crisis in the coming months, uncertainty continues to linger... ​ But as Nietzsche said: « What does not kill us makes us stronger. » We at Wattson Audio continue to pursue our optimistic and dynamic vision. We adapt our production to this reality, without compromising on creativity or quality. As a proof and despite these serious crises, we are still here and more committed than ever to offer you new products,. Some are in the final stages of development and even on the verge of being launched. Wattson Remote Just like the Wattson Music app for the iOS environment, Wattson Remote is the very first version of our control app for the Android world! Access all advanced settings of your device from the user interface of Wattson Remote, exactly like in Wattson Music. Learn more about the present and future of Wattson Remote by reading the FAQ dedicated to this project , and check some important details from the main screens in the following guide. Home screen Remote screen Device settings screen FAQ Home screen The Home screen of the Wattson Remote app is used as a connection point for the Wattson Audio products. It is from this screen that the list of all available devices on the network are displayed. ​ Devices detection is automatic, but the list can be refreshed at any time by pulling it down or by pressing the "Scan" button. click on the image to reveal some tips Remote screen The "Remote" screen allows access to control functions, as well as advanced settings available on some of the Wattson Audio devices range. Depending on the device selected, different information will be displayed on this screen, from simple general information about the device (firmware version, IP address, etc.) to control of the inputs available on it. The device settings are accessible from a dedicated screen, accessible from the Settings menu located on the right side of the screen. click the image to reveal some tips Device settings screen This screen lists all available settings for the selected device, from volume options to device and input renaming, as well as sound correction settings for models that support it, like the Madison. The current version of the firmware installed on the device is also displayed on this screen. Access to the device's web page can be done easily by clicking on the IP address. Finally, the app version is shown at the bottom of the screen. FAQ Why did you choose a different name for the Android app? While both apps look similar at first glance, Wattson Remote for Android does not yet have the same level of functionality as Wattson Music for iOS. At this point, Wattson Remote only allows you to access the settings of your Wattson Audio streamer. It was therefore important to distinguish the two apps by their names so that there is no confusion between them. Why is the Wattson Remote app only released now? Recurring requests from our community members have always made us consider bringing Wattson Music to Android devices. However, this project has raised many questions internally, mainly because of the development and maintenance costs of such an application. Indeed, the goal is known and we want to give ourselves the means to offer Android users the same quality of experience that made Wattson Music successful. For the small team that we are, this quickly represents a big investment in time and resources. We finally decided to move forward, but split the development into multiple phases to move at our own pace. It's been a long wait, but today's release of Wattson Remote marks an important milestone for us. Will Wattson Music ever be available for Android? Yes. Wattson Remote is the first step in the development that will lead to a full version of Wattson Music for Android. We could have never released Wattson Remote, knowing that this version is of limited interest in terms of music experience. However, we decided to make Wattson Remote public in order to gather feedback from Android users in the Wattson Audio community. The Android ecosystem is very large and, in some ways, a bigger technical challenge than development in the iOS world in terms of the variety of devices and compatibility of versions of the same platform. When will Wattson Remote become Wattson Music for Android? At this point, the logical next step in the development process is to offer the first music playback features from within the app. Just like our users, we are looking forward to making a new phase of this development public. However, the steps to transform Wattson Remote into Wattson Music will still take time to develop. The next announcement regarding the evolution of Wattson Remote will be made in due course. Will there be early access to future versions of Wattson Remote? Maybe... Gathering feedback from our customers and community members has always been important to us. With the diversity of Android devices supported by Wattson Remote, it will be beneficial for the final user experience to have the app tested on a wide variety of devices when we release new features. This is not yet a reality, but we are seriously considering offering access to beta versions of the app to selected users. If this is set up, we will communicate about it when the time comes.

That was the genesis of and established the ethos for Wattson Audio, a range of practical, high-performance, space, energy and materials efficient products that bring genuine high-end audio down to affordable price levels. ​ Love your music – love your planet It’s the ultimate exercise in value-engineering: spending the right amount of the budget on the things that really matter – and eliminating the things that don’t. ​ Today’s best digital and streaming products can be as dependent on software as they are on hardware. By leveraging the power of software to govern the behavior of DSP and DAC devices, you create circuits that are upgradable and future-proof, protecting your investment and minimizing redundancy. But you also maximise their adaptability and versatility. Without sophisticated software, products like the Emerson and Madison simply couldn’t exist or perform as they do. But that software (and its associated engineering) also creates opportunities to grasp and pitfalls to avoid… ​ A sophisticated DSP driven volume control can outperform a basic analog pot – and it costs nothing. ​ Energy efficient, switch-mode power-supplies are becoming increasingly common, but not all switch-mode supplies are created equal. Why select an off the shelf unit with dubious or inconsistent performance, when better options are available and cost much the same. The end result is the simplest, cleanest path from proposition A to solution B, in a product that’s as compact and efficient as possible. This might be ‘high-end’ writ small. It might not be the ‘high-end’ you expect.
